Baga creates these tonal sketches a preliminary step before creating a painted final piece. This version of the art was not used as it was too similar to other card art he had created for much more powerful cards (Moxen). The final card art is posted as an additional image where you can see how the emphasis was moved away from the hands to the doodad that the card represents. It's a shame as those are beautiful hands.
