DescriptionFront paper artwork to Metropolis from Mike Kaluta's visual masterpiece. This 1988 book was an illustrated re-interpretation of Thea von Harbou's 1925 sci-fi novel and the subsequent silent movie by Fritz Lang.I always felt Metropolis was Kaluta's best work. It's a beautiful fusion of Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. I'm VERY happy to own this example. It's really big too...almost 2ft. by 3ft! Social/Sharing |

A grand presentation with patternwork as precise as a machine by Kaluta! His immense imagination to reinterpret this world takes the aesthetic and the zeigeist of the time period in which it was written and extrapolate the future from it. A tour de force project and a notable one in Kaluta's long fantasy and sc-fi resume.
