William Overgard / Steve Roper and Mike Nomad Daily Comic Strip (Field Enterprises, Inc., 1980). Antihero Mike Nomad steals the show in this generous selection of crimebuster adventures from one of the comics' best mayhem-and-murder features - right up there in a league with Dick Tracy and Secret Agent X covering such intrigues as a search for a missing heiress, a crooked property-development racket, and the case of a rat-faced poisoner. Here is one of the few comic strips in which the central characters age more-or-less naturally, with journalist Steve Roper greying noticeably and a jealous woman calling Nomad "over-the-hill." Overgard's storytelling mastery is in full flower, here, with rich environmental details and a gift for character design to convey the shifting moods of Allen Saunders' script. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 18.5" x 5.75". Overall light/moderate toning and routine handling wear. Conditions range from Very Good to Excellent.
