Description

In the early 2010s I had a moment worthy of The Clock King�s origin on Batman: The Animated Series. After many years of being financially conservative in my art purchases I went all out, buying several dozen pages and a to-be-published cover all in one go. It was, at the time, the most I�d spent on art at one time, but I�d been convinced I needed to change my ways.

The very next day my then-employer announced work changes, as much government decree as back-office politicking, which permanently reduced my salary by a third. Not the best of timing.

When I received my purchase I found the seller had thrown in some additional pieces, ranging from completed pages rejected for publication to character pieces described as things artists had done just for fun.

Today, over a decade after that massive purchase, Dula Luck had me stumble onto the 2024 Big Dog Ink Book Fair Kickstarter. There I found a mirrored version of one of the pieces that had been thrown in all those years ago being used for a trading card, and which I not only had taken out of storage, but was sitting next to me as I found it was being used.

Technically it won�t be printed and sent out until next month, but after sitting on the art for over a decade I hope you don�t mind me jumping the gun and listing it as published as I post it.

I suppose I�ll have to go back and see what other pieces I was given that Big Dog might have used in their other Kickstarters.

Maybe someday they�ll finally publish the cover I bought.
