DescriptionIn July of 2018, a small convention called the Lock City Comic Con in North Haven, Connecticut made a very late announcement that Mr. Peter Laird would be attending this show alongside Steve Lavigne and Jim Lawson. This was very unexpected and was only announced less than a week before the show. It was not on many people's radars. As luck would have it, I had an opportunity to drive to the show for the day.It may be surprising to anyone lucky enough to see Peter at a show these days that the LCCC show saw him with no line whatsoever. I got to the show somewhat late (long drive) and I was able to walk right up to him. To occupy his time, he was doing full-figure sketches and he was selling them as soon as he finished them. This was the one he finished when I walked up. It's lucky as not only is it an excellent example of his work, but it's my favorite turtle! Not long after, I sent it off to Steve Lavigne to get the color treatment. I like the look. The gray skin and red bandana point to the original comics while the background pays homage to his more well-known bandana color. They both did a terrific job! Social/Sharing |

Very cool Laird piece, Adam! Congrats on the acquisition back in '18. Any piece from Peter Laird is awesome, but I really like the pose on this one

A very nice surprise! Laird adds that turtle tail like it was the mid 80's without worrying about the censors! The color combo is great!
