strata, created by Keith Giffen, Bill Mantlo, and Todd McFarlane, first appeared in Invasion #2 (1989).

Strata comes form the word Dryad and is part of a rock like race that inhabits the planet.
Strata was given to the Dominators AS A HOSTAGE and was kept as a prisoner on Stalag. She joined Vril Dox in escaping Stalag to defeat the Dominators and became a founding member of L.E.G.I.O.N.
Strata's density gives her superhuman strength and near invulnerability.

Rock

I looked at you
You showed the card
You were rock that was illustrated
I wanted you
Any art
But I knew set love would be Kitson made it

Love Legion too much
But you wouldn't Dryad
The Strata seemed to be the right kind
I started to give up
Card from the comics
Robin you changed your lines, oh

And she began to rock steady
Strata rockin' all night long
And she began to rock steady
Rockin' 'til the Invasion

Okay, I'm really confused. Strata is the female shown on the art for the back of the card, but when she turns into her rocky self, she has a male physique?

Strata was young when she first appeared and did not shown any outward female characteristics until later when she hit puberty.
