Terrific page! Love that last panel!!

I've talked a few times about my love for Marvel's ability to humanize its characters.  Look at the awesomely realistic depiction of heroes (and mutant ones at that) in their teen years.  Even the dire situation they are in, most likely on the verge of death, and Sam is embarrassed at having his friends see him look like that.  It couldn't be more perfect.

Bob always did a great job on keeping kids kids, and paying as much attention to the emotion as the action. 

Exactly.  You feel Sam's embarrassment.  You feel bad for him.  Bob nailed it.

It's a good thing the art was good in this issue, because after reading some of these pages you've been posting, I know I would've lost my mind having to read the "Yoda speak" from these creatures if I HAD bought it when it came out!

The aliens luckily were mostly towards the end. As we work our way back, there's a lot of great classic NM action. 

To think, Sam is weighing if he'd rather literally die or die of embarrassment.  You'd think with weapons like that, they be galaxy and dimension conquerors.  

I love how the members of Lila's rock band just take alien invasion totally in stride like it's no big deal, even betraying her to the aliens. Did we ever get the band's back story?

Initially playing a raw, primitive style of rock and roll, the band sold few records in their original incarnation and gained a reputation for their confrontational performances, which often involved acts of self-mutilation.

They are widely regarded as a seminal proto-punk act. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
