Description

This story takes place on New Years Eve of the year 1612 and is being posted on New Years Eve 2024. How about that!

In the dungeon, Countess Báthory and her servant whip their captive horrifically. But Palatine Thurzó has arrived at the castle to arrest them:

“Please, let me go! Aaaaah!”

“Now it's your turn, Countess.”

“With pleasure...”

“Noo! Unngh!”

“Drink, Countess. Drink the blood while it’s still warm, like a true daughter of the night.”

“Lord Count...”

“Step aside, soldier. And tell me where the countess is.”

“I don't... Ah!” (Thurzó’s man-at-arms slaps the soldier with a SCIAEF sound effect, then draws his sword.)

“For the last time, soldier. Where is Countess Báthory?”

The historical Erzsébet Báthory may actually have been framed as a serial killer to seize her lands. In this version of the story, she is guilty, but goaded by her evil servant Dorothea Szentes.

Only one lurid shot exposing the depravity, but every panel around it that sets it up and the reaction brings true horror.

It appears the Countess will not have a Happy New Year!
