Description

Investigating a homicide scene, private detective Vilmos Farkas is relieved that the victim is not the woman he feared it to be:

“Well?”

“No! No, it’s not her!”

(Privately to Greta) “My popularity among my former colleagues has hit rock bottom.”

“You reported two police officers and testified against them in court.”

“They beat the shit out of some poor devil! What was I supposed to do? Look the other way and pretend nothing had happened? Or wait for those two bastards to do it again to someone else?”

“You did the right thing. Many people think the same way I do. Others say an internal investigation would have been better than an official investigation and a public trial.”

“Internal investigations can be covered up, Greta. And those two animals in uniform would have gotten away with a slap on the wrist.”

“That's why I’ll say again that you did the right thing. Even if, in the end, it was you who paid the most.”

“You don't need to remind me. I see it for myself, every damn day. What can you tell me about that girl?”

“Twenty-two years old, missing for eight days, but deceased less than twenty-four hours ago.”

As you can see, the cops have plenty of animosity toward their former colleague Vilmos for reporting police brutality. Like vampires, police are a tight fraternity with their own code of conduct.

Dampyr has the sadism and vampires. Martin Mystere has the abuse and Nazis. There have occasionally been crossovers between the Bonelli series. There's even one where Martin meets Nathan Never.
