DescriptionDrawn and published in Conan Saga issue 14 right in the middle of his run on Daredevil with Ann Nocenti, this story marks the only time John Romita Jr had ever drawn for a Conan story. This page marks not only the oldest John Romita Jr page I own, but also the oldest piece in my collection now! From the description provided to me: Mercenaries Titonix and Pendog accept a mission to seek the Book of Dar on this opening page from "The Sorcerer's Prize". Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Slight toning, title/credits/text paste-ups, taped paste-up at the bottom, whiteout corrections, with light staining and handling wear. Social/Sharing |

Very cool! You can see the difference an inker like Armando Gil has compared to the Al Williamson DD art. DD is going for grim and gritty, while this brings fantasy to life.

Agreed, Gil really did a great job with inking JRJR's pencils! I wish the story had been long than the few pages it was, as while Williamson did an amazing job inking his Daredevil, it would have been interesting to see how other inkers along with Gil would have done JRJR's pencils while he was developing the style he's so iconic for now
