Description

Alfred Mazure was a prolific Dutch artist perhaps best known for creating the comic strip "Dick Bros". He created "Carmen and Co" in 1958 and drew the strip for the daily sketch for two years. This strip was an erotically charged prelude to Mazure's better known work, "Jane, Daughter of Jane", a sequel to Norman Pett's famous comic strip, "Jane" which appeared in the Daily Mirror from 1961-3".

This strip revolved around the lives of two beautiful women; Carmen and Co. ("Co" was one of the principal characters, not an abbreviation for company.) As you can see, the strip had elements of near-nudity (lingerie) and double entendre throughout.

The strip was produced in ink over graphite with an image area of 20.75" x 5.75" on a larger piece of 4-ply Bristol. The art is signed "MAZ" in the last panel. There is some mild edge wear and toning, pinholes in the upper right and left corners, with light overall toning, and handling wear.
