DescriptionI had earlier 2 consecutive dailies, presented here:https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1951015 And not deleting that CAF page but upgrading and uploading now the daily from June 24 :-) Thanks a lot for Thomas Ward for his kind help to acquire this great artwork! I was so excited to get this artwork, having now more symmetric collage, having there stone-faced Carno at the center with great hard-boiled dialogue ;-) Then a hint for framing your artwork: I prefer using satin black passepartout, the reason is evident, just see the photo. There is a normal black color passepartout under the artwork, and it is reflecting so much light! Black is not looking black at all there. Satin is sucking light, not reflecting that much ;-) If you have seen my earlier upload in CAF, no need to read further, but for new watchers, repeating here myself what I wrote then; why I needed to acquire those 2 dailes? ... There is a classical beautiful lady, with a great play of shadows and lights. Then the real eye-catcher for me was the perfectly correctly done Jaguar XK120 dashboard! Well, an easy task for Alex Raymond once he had this car in his garage ;-) Check the additional photo for what I mean. And last but not least, look at the last panel! Raymond again exceeded all expectations by creating a new pattern (I don't remember seeing this earlier) to present headlights at night with a light fog around there. There are 2 vanishing points in the lights, perfect perspective drawn, and depth so beautifully created. This is so elegantly done in the style of van Gogh / pointillism! And think again, this was "just" for a daily newspaper, for the next day something else, 6 times weekly! Needing to underline again also: look again carefully, there is not a single drop correction fluid used! All Raymond's lines are perfectly done without any mistakes, stunning artwork.
