The High Evolutionary Splash Page (Punisher Annual #1) by Paris Cullins & Tony DeZuniga

In the summer of 1988, Marvel ran a comic book crossover series titled "The Evolutionary War." Basically, the High Evolutionary tries to promulgate a plan to advance humans genetically. Naturally, his plans put him in conflict with the Marvel superheroes and the clash was depicted across a slew of Marvel annuals. That is why you have the unusual situation of a story about the High Evolutionary ending up as a backup feature in the first Punisher annual.

This splash page, drawn by the excellent team of Paris Cullins and Tony DeZuniga, shows the young High Evolutionary in 1930, back when he was just Herbert Edgar Wyndham, a young graduate student at Oxford with unorthodox theories. This scene takes place right after the rogue Inhuman geneticist Phaeder has given Wyndham a sheaf of documents featuring instructions on how to unlock the potential of genetics.
