DescriptionRick Remender’s run on Uncanny X-Force was my favorite X-Force series. It’s was predominantly stories that were hard hitting and sad, for some reason I enjoy, but the art that went along with these deep stories really took these collaborations to another level. The storylines went from killing a child to stop the next Apocalypse, to Deathlok nation, Age of Apocalypse characters revisited to the Dark Angel saga. This page comes from a book, that was a jumping on point, directly after the Apocalypse Solution, where Fantomex shoots and kills a child to keep the next Apocalypse at bay. The story here is simple and filled with action and violence as Lady Deathstrike leads some Reavers to take revenge on X-Men’s Uptopia island. The battle rages on, Psylocke falls and calls forth upon Archangel to save her. The love between these two characters is quite twisted after years of on again off again antics, but still deeply rooted in a connection that is everlasting. And an event soon after, that takes place in the Dark Angel saga, will take their love story to the most dramatic conclusion. The gorgeous middle panel showcases Archangel and Psylocke so well, Albuquerque’s art captures their sharp hard edges perfectly in combination with dynamic poses. His work on both pencils and grey tones, painted and shading are so beautifully expressed on the page. Remender’s story reminds us that X-Force was disbanded and Psylocke would be walking right into the heart of Utopia where they don’t belong. And the last panel shows a great angle on Lady Deathstrike as she rushes upon Wolverine, with an amazing description of her oncoming attack to be like “A Tornado Of Kitchen Knives”. Pages from these storylines have been incredibly hard to find and very fortunate to be able to add this one to my collection. Social/Sharing |

Remender's X-Force run was indeed a great one. Cool page and use of wash.

The colors do justice to the washtones Albuquerque lays down. Add a very stylish noir to the storytelling that keeps each drawing compartmentalized.

Nice page in Rafael's unique style, especially like the Psylocke. Remender's Uncanny X-Force was such a good run/read, I always remember it mainly for the Opena art but this was a cool "point one" issue with Albuquerque. Congrats on the find/add!

Albuquerque's got an organic looseness to his stuff that just oozes a deft weight to the story...not easy to do. Congrats on a great example!
