Just like art from first issues, it's always cool to have art from final ones as well, especially nice looking covers like this one. Congratulations, Larry!

The funny thing was the iconic original art of Superman, Man of Steel #1 was in the same auction.

Yes, though technically no. The real original cover for the first issue is a painting, and since Heritage never rbothers to reveal the full details whenever there's an important "story" behind the art, we don't actually know if Bogdanove drew it and was later asked to paint one instead, which would've made it the "unpublished cover" to the first issue. Other scenarios are possible as well, but I don't want to speculate. Suffice it to say that only asking Bogdanove personally to explain why that piece was created is the only way I'd have been comfortable considering it an "unpublished cover" rather than something else.
