I bought these 2 pages from Peter Koch, too long ago for me to remember.. They were dirt-cheap, at that time. I wish I'd have bought more of them. As now, it's rather difficult to find examples of Suydam's artwork, from this early period!
I find Suydam's current output, pretty atrocious. But I have a soft spot for all of his early DC Mystery artwork.. Which was like a weirder & more whimsical version of Wrightson. It lulls you with a David Lynch atmosphere. Then he hits you, with some really cartoony moments..
I love the way the Boss here, is more concerned about his Store's insurance rates.. Than he is, about Denton's newly-eviscerated Right Hand! AARGH!!
