Description"A Brother to Dragons"March 1987 It is very difficult and, probably, a bit pretentious to try to write something original or new about The Wacthmen. I will not try. For me and for many of us is the most relevant, iconic, trascendetal, influential and deep comic book of the modern comics history. There is a before and an after of its publication. No need to add anything else. As Jeff recently said, not all the pages are similar in value or importance but all the pages have something "special". Any page, any dialogue, any panel have a meaning or a reason to exist. They are pieces or parts of a very complex architecture. That's the reason why any page is a sort of gem. Symbology and symmetry are two constants in the whole artwork. The first and last panels of the page are completely symmetrical. But the most relevant to me is the art and dialogue. The page is amazingly well drawn. The script shows all the doubts, fears and insecurities of those two main characters that are battling to find themselves. A good friend recently told me "be aware that 40 years ago this peage was in the hands of the very same Dave Gibbons and probably in the Alan Moore ones too!" As a collector I feel very grateful and honored for having the chance of owning this small portion of comic history. " - Jesus that sounds like the sort of costume that could really mess you up. - Is there any other sort?" LAURIE & DAN PS. I've been lucky enough to find the original color proof print of the 2000's new edition signed by Dave Gibbons and John Higgins. Posted as additional image. Social/Sharing |

What else can be said about Watchmen? Ranked as the best comic book ever...To have and enjoy a magnificent sequential page with Silk Spectre and Nite Owl from this masterpiece I can't even imagine. Many congratulations Toni!!. This page exudes without a doubt the soul of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons.

gorgeous page!!! and from a run/title that it's hard to say much more about to your point, still amazed to see pages show up in collectors hands or for sale at auction and a reminder at how important a story it was/is. huge congrats !

What a gem! It's a trip through the Batcave and you can tell Laurie is giving Dan a renewed passion for crimefighting. You also get the cars used in this world look similar to the owlship showing how out of date these designs are. Maybe she's just humoring him being impressed because she's attracted to him.

I was trying to think of a really good comment to leave, but after reading your excellent description, I felt exactly the same way you did about trying to write something new or original about Watchmen. Since your words describe the piece perfectly, there is no reason for me to even try. Instead, I will simply say, congratulations and enjoy.

You know, I've seen so many of the classic 9-panel grid layouts on Watchmen pages that I forgot that Gibbons didn't draw all of them that way. Beautifully drawn, of course. Congratulations on acquiring a piece of comic book history!

Yes, it's a wonderful dialogue page. However, what strikes me at this moment is how Dan reminds me of one of those overly rich celebrities with garages full of classic cars and whatnot who posts their collection on YouTube. He was way ahead of his time. Heh.

Wow! Stunnning page from the Gibbons/Moore epic "Watchmen." Love this page of Dan Dreiberg (Night Owl) walking Laurie Juspeczyk (Silk Spectre) through his secret hideout and talking about how it was all pointless. Love the way they walk past his Owlship and some schematic diagrams and then past a redesign for his costume. It's almost like walking with Batman through the Batcave with him telling you it was all for nothing. Beautifully drawn and extremely well written page from the classic miniseries. Great pick-up, congrats.
