Description
The Swamp Thing #8 Pg. 5
Art by Mike Perkins
Written by Ram V

The story of The Swamp Thing #8, "In My Infancy, Part 3", continues!

Chemo lays defeated after an epic battle with Levi/Swamp Thing which was seen a few pages ago on the epic Pg 2 & 3 DPS Title Splash.

Swamp Thing materializes/re-emerges and starts to make his way through the Kaziranga green, with Peacemaker hot on his chase. Yet, Levi senses that something else is coming, or perhaps someone else...

Every time I look through the original art pages from this run, it is an eye popping experience. Tremendous level of details and great storytelling. I recently sat down and took fresh higher resolution scans at higher DPI for the entirety of the Issue #8 Pages, including the Cover, Pg 1, Pg 2 & 3 DPS, and Pg 4 that I previously shared on CAF.

Check them out and experience (or re-experience) them in the gallery folder. The scans are a tiny bit darker than the original scans, but much better resolution and depth, so I prefer these personally even though the prior scans were also perfectly good.

Nice! So rich and thick with textures and atmosphere. I really enjoyed the Suicide Squad subplot and Chemo (along with Parasite) was my favourite visual element of their story appearance. I love the middle, inset tier of panels, used to show Swamp Thing reconstituting himself in the Kaziranga forest. When he stands there and turns his head back, coupled with his narrated dialogue, the tension is ratcheted up a notch and you know a storm is brewing!

Perkin's style is perfect for Swamp Thing. The way he looks at the bottom of the page is perfection!

The more I see of Mike's ST art, the more I feel he's become one of the character's definitive artists.  Love that shot at the bottom.

Talking ‘bout the green last night
Watching Peacemaker pass Levi
Where do all our Chemo go?
I guess, Swamp Thing and chemicals

I can do the washes for a crocodile
But Swamp Things art’s too hard to reconcile

When I look upon red eyes
There's no Cena I can find
It's worth seeing for you're never shown
And, when I'm wide awake to fight
Pink and purples in my Spice
There's an answer drawn by Mike
When did your art Ram V wrote?
I guess, Swamp Things, I'll never know
I guess, Swamp Things, I'll never know

Wonderful Perkins! I particularly like the contrast between the detailed Swamp Thing bust and the gray wash outlines of the forest in the background.

The detail and feel of this page screams swamp. It's captured so well. I especially love the panel layout. The four vertical panels pop against the splash style background. Add the color and you have a neon swamp stunner. Nice work from Perkins and a great pick up!

Another striking page. As this page and the Batman page posted recently show, Perkins is an incredibly versatile artist.

So glad you re-did the scans for these pages.   They certainly make Mike's artwork pop even more!  I'm enjoying looking at your new scans of those previous pages (and I think I missed a bunch of them the first time you posted them).  I love seeing the first three middle panels of this page in black and white, because Swamp Thing is so beautifully camouflaged.  (And how cool that he re-assembles in that first one).

Really cool how the scene setting top panel and head shot bottom panel sandwich the reformation of ST in the middle panels!  Congrats on another winning page from the series, man!

A lovely (and perfectly toxic) top of the page, with that second tier of panels providing a sense of cool relief as Swamp Thing (beautifully) reforms, bracing for the next round...  Tier 3 / panel 6 provides the perfect "That all you got? Bring it!" story beat moment, with those exquisitely rendered swamp backgrounds and Levi's calm resolve in the face of what appears to be the next threat coming his way... but the page turn will reveal a jump scare in the form of a completely different obstacle to overcome... :)  Such a great choice to lock down this whole book, Kavi!  Swamp monster-sized congrats, and thanks for sharing the pages with us here!
