9x12 pencil and ink on board. I tried for several years in a row to get on Chris Samnee's commission list with no success. 2024 was the year it finally happened! Chris takes commissions to fill up an entire year and let's people know which month they can expect to receive theirs. Mine was slated for end of the year and due to some delays it slipped a little and I received a scan from him on January 2nd. So this is my first piece of art dated 2025; happy new year! What can I say about this? It's everything you want out of Samnnee art: phenomenal inks with deep, rich blacks and figures embedded in a detailed background. I love how sharp Tigershark's talons look as they grip Stingray's ankle! Will our oceanographic hero be able to get away?! Samnee also really went to town on the coral, and the school of small fish, making this a believable aquatic dustup! Chris also was nice enough to send along a cheeky Namor head sketch as thanks!

Samnee is a master of negative space and it's on full display here. The pose he used for Stingray really mimics the sea creature's fins floating in the water! Gives him the extra hang time so he can slam it home on Taggershark!

Stingray is the best! I've been a big fan since I was a child reading Marvel Two In One with Stingray and The Thing!
