Deciding to start another themed sketchbook, I could only open it with the artist who inspired it through some previous convention sketches.

At NYCC 2023, I intended to get ticketed sketches from Sanford each day, filling the first 3 pages with the members of De La Soul, as individuals.

I handed off my sketchbook to Sanford at the beginning of the show with complete faith and in no rush. A couple of days later, unsurprisingly, he surpassed expectations with a better idea than I had, bringing to bear a singular image of the full group in their Daisy Age era.

Rule #1 of starting a sketchbook - Open with a banger. Mission accomplished once again thanks to Sanford's superb talent.
