Description

A gorgeous original art piece by the illustration master, Mark Schultz in his work on the Conan book series. Published multiple times, it was first featured by Wandering Star Books (UK) and Del Rey Books (US). The lead illustration in the second chapter of Xuthal of the Dusk (AKA The Slithering Shadow), this piece features the sexy but deadly Thalis as she plans to torture then murder the beautiful Natala so she can have Conan all to herself! Artwork is done in ink on illustration board measuring 8"x10" and is in excellent condition. Signed by Mark Schultz in the bottom right margin of the art piece.

Beautiful figurework with the flesh showing tension and at rest as only Schultz can. This level of study in anatomy and ability to convey it is what sets him apart from artists working in this field of illustration and comics.

Xuthal of the Dusk was probably one of Howard's best Conan stories that had a very interesting theme to its plot. Really beautiful page that showcases Mark Schultz's talent for pulp style art that matches the tone of Howard's fantasy world he built in the Hyborian Age. Congrats on a great pickup!
