Description

Painted for the cover of "King of Ys: Roma Mater" by Karen and Poul Anderson, for the edition published by Baen in 1986. Approx size 22 x 28".

It is featured alongside Gallicenae in "The Art of David Mattingly" published in 1996 by Paper Tiger. In the book Mattingly recounts how both paintings were created during his divorce from his first wife, who was used as the model for this painting. Both paintings incorporate symbolic elements of their divorce.
