Gadzooks! An absolute beast of a page, Simon - WOW. I actually just re-read Born Again (again) to prep for leaving this comment (oh, darn! gotta read it again!) and I just love the multi-gear storytelling going on here, with Ben's story finally crossing -directly- over into Matt's and them sharing panels together (they were in one panel on one page together in the previous issue, but Matt was sneaking out the back of the soup kitchen to avoid Ben). And even though the stakes are different in those stories (and they're moving at different speeds - Ben's coat is on fire - Matt's trying to stop a maniac from murdering and/or destroying a chunk of Manhattan), they're merged seamlessly together, like David's art is a great gear coupling, easily accommodating the different scales of things.
I love the storytelling all over the place, but especially how the viewer is left to fill in DD's action between panels 1&3 (landing on Nuke and rolling away with Nuke's weapon) as well as DD's "mid roll" position in panel 3 (to say nothing of Nuke's immolated form in panel 5)... Just -beautiful-.
The mighty Yo Kuri has the page before this one, so you're in stellar company, and it was fun to review both pages, one in the context of each other. This is next level, Simon, upping the game of your already incredible collection. Sincere and -HUGE- congrats here, sir!
