Description
Officer Mutt has no objection to being demoted and stripped of his buttons -- until it comes to the last one. This amusing example of a historic series is titled "Button, Button, Who's Got the Medal?"
----------------------------------------------------------
Initially, there was a single Mutt strip, which focused on horse racing. Mutt was a serial gambler and would bet on actual races scheduled for the days following the strip's release. Mutt was later joined by a kindhearted character, Jeff. The strip then evolved into vaudeville-style comedy stories, in which the relationship between the short, fat Jeff and the tall, thin Mutt was less one of adversary than of camaraderie. Soon, thanks to the great popularity of the protagonists, Mutt and Jeff became the nickname for all the characters, tall and short. The comic strip was also an artistic training ground for assistants such as Maurice Sendak and George Herriman. Importantly, in an era when newspapers secured revenue from the creative work of their employees, Fisher was one of the first authors to secure ownership of his own work

It's a good one as the humor and the art still holds up!
