The Perkins artwork is so haunting in this winter gothic horror story. Even the most jaded will see what is accomplished with Ivy and Swamp Thing both having human and green elemental sides, but with opposite approaches when it comes time to pick a side.

A breathtaking page from this beautiful one-shot! Perkins' use of heavy inks, wash and intricate textures creates an eerie, immersive atmosphere, perfectly suited for these two characters. The snowfall adds an almost haunting serenity to the scene, contrasting beautifully with the organic chaos of the twisted branches. The closeup expressions, one of my favourite things about Mike's work, are stunning. There’s so much emotion in Ivy’s face, whether it’s awe, determination, or something more unsettling. And that final panel, with Swamp Thing and Ivy standing before the gnarled, looming tree, is visual poetry. A striking and evocative page, Perkins' mastery of shadow and light is on full display here! I know it was hard to go wrong with any page from this book, but you definitely picked out a great one, Sean!
