Great cover!
Strangely enough, this was Wild Bill Curry's favourite comic cover as well.
I know what this means to you. So, so, happy for you buddy.
Now that looks like a fun wrestling match!
Cerebus in a tables, ladders, and chairs match against Hercules! A con-chair-to orchestrated by Dave Sim!

Wow, what a fantastic acquisition, Rick! Sim’s linework is always precise and confident, with nice texture on the clothing. A memorable cover from a very popular era of Cerebus!
Absolutely wonderful cover!!!
Amazing cover. Great find of the pre-Kitchen Staff Supervisor era of the earth - pig born.

You've got to be kidding me Rick. How??? Bechara !! That guy definitely finds spectacular and important art. Very happy for you. Talk about a cultural signature piece.Where do the years go?
Superb! There was a small pocket of issues at the very start of Church & State (and end of High Society) that proved particularly elusive to acquire for me back in the day, and this was one of them... so seeing the original cover here is -fantastic-! When Gerhard was fully integrated into the singular, incredible "art unit" that produced Cerebus, the covers of the book became incredibly unique, increasingly complex (and unorthodox), "mature" pieces (declarations, almost) that continually kicked down the walls that held in check the expectations of what a North American monthly comic book cover should, would, and could be. But before then, Dave could really unleash some havok on his own, and this image is a perfect example. It must have come as a great relief, after the high-falootin', complex High Society, to see this cover kicking off a new storyline and realize that Dave "got it all out of his system" and was returning Cerebus to his roots as a brawling, Conan parody, leaving behind all that heavy political and systemic analysis... thank goodness! :) And then he gave us Church & State... :) Absolutely, epically smashing and fantastic Cerebus pick up, Rick! Gorgeous Dave Sim drawing on this beauty (love the Looney Tunes-like shorthand of the goon biting his lip to denote the force of the blow...). Congrats on pinning this bad boy down!
Love the "simplicity" of this one...just the 2 figures, but so dynamic. Classic stuff, Rick, congrats!
Fantastic Cover artwork here!!
