EverQuest Computer Game Preliminary Box Cover Lorisyn Oakwynd Drawing

This original 6.5" x 11" pencil on paper EverQuest drawing by fantasy illustrator Keith Parkinson was used as a preliminary character sketch during the creation of the 1999 massively multiplayer online role-playing game's box cover. The image shows wood elf ranger Lorisyn Oakwynd hunching with bow in hand.

As part of the computer title's Second Anniversary Celebration in 2001, the illustration saw publication on the official EverQuest website's "Concept Art" page, where it appeared on a couple of rough layout drafts.

Wood elves hail from Kelethin, a city of huts perched high atop Greater Faydark trees on the continent of Faydwer. Lorisyn Oakwynd joined forces with Firiona Vie to bring peace to Norrath, but met a premature death at the hands of the ogre shaman Ghargin Bumblok and the troll shadowknight Rogkasth Vr`l during the Festival of Faydark's Children.

His twin sister, Lyirae, also a ranger, bravely took his place at Firiona's side and avenged her brother's death by delivering a lethal arrow to Ghargin's chest while in battle.
