Description
More Saturday morning cartoon nostalgia with Dig'Em Frog. Originally introduced in 1950, Sugar Smacks later changed its name to Smacks in the 80's and then later to Honey Smacks two decades later. Sugar Smacks had the highest content of sugar of any of the breakfast cereal, reported to be 56% by weight!

I think I might have actually tried the cereal at some point but I am not sure. Perhaps it was in those multi-pac mini-cereals.

Regardless if I was a consumer or not, i knew Dig Em Frog and remember the commercials well. He was replaced in the 80's by Wally the Bear which I have no recollection. Dig'Em made a come back in the 90's.

Nice cel with an upside down world Dig'Em with original painted background.

I loved the cereal!  It hopped you up on sugar and then you'd crash when you get to school.

Really? Man, even with all that sugar, I thought they tasted awful. Something like a burnt caramel flavour, which of course isn't surprising, since sugar starts turning into a brownish, liquified concoction when you heat it up.

You don't need to tell me that, sugar was the primary source of my unbalanced diet for pretty much my entire life. But Sugar Smacks still tasted bad to me!

It probably destroyed a lot of children/people's lives and is most likely responsible for the failure of the whole american school system now that you mention it ;)
