The Sensational Miles "Spider-Man" Morales, after Angel Medina, by Eranga Devasurendra

Back when, Miles Morales screamed mere cash grab if not Marvel desperately scrambling to trip and fall into credibility. I thought this character would come and go like any other fad. Like a teenager to a phase, Marvel and time would age past Miles Morales.

I couldn't be prouder to have been more wrong as I bucked my instincts and purchased his first Ultimate comics Volume monthly as I missed Ultimate Fallout. I witnessed glimpses of something not only enjoyable as comics should always be but relatable.

Though I still shy from race washing characters, this was something truly different as promised. Miles would prove to be not just his own as a civilian but his own Spidey!

Sensational Spider-Man was and will always be my number one FAVORITE image of our friendly neighborhood Wallcrawler. The perspective, the detail and the tragic under-appreciation of Angel Medina simply stuck with me unlike ANY and I mean ANY other image. It conveyed all I needed to see or know about the character before I read a single Spidey issue.

That cover is well locked down forevermore (and rightfully so) leaving only an homage to come close to owning that same pure magic.

Enter Eranga D...

I requested info on a commission in December 2024 but his list was jam packed (as it always is...and rightfully so). So to his advice, I checked back in February. Still full but...he was down to read my ideas. I sent the virgin Sensational 23 image and said/texted "This cover...with Miles Morales!"

To say Eranga was geeked out of the request would be an injustice. Like a kindred spirit of nerdom, he too held this image and Mister Medina in sacred regard. Basically, he jumped me into his commission list and here we are.

Eranga, thank you for everything and I look forward to many more commissions with you to come. This was the first commission I've EVER ordered and what a majestic first experience it was. Sensational Miles here will be going over my living room as the centerpiece of my walled collection...after a proper framing of course.
