it's great to have friends in the hobby, especially ones that help you achieve owning as epic and strong of a Fantastic Four cover image by John Byrne as this! Three Against Doomsday! The ONLY thing that this cover is missing is Mr. Fantastic but that doesn't keep it from being one of the best from Byrne's run as our 3 heroes battle against Doctor Doom and Tyros The Terrible (I think?). Tremendous addition to your otherworldly collection from the cosmos, Congratulations!
Indeed it is one of the reasons why connectivity and friendship within the art community is important..and Mr. Fantastic has been whisked away to face his own trials...and Terrax having been stripped of his powers by Galactus would have to remain Tyros until that is he feels reborn through Dooom's reconstruction of some cosmic power to bestow upon him...But at a price...Very cosmic to include such a cover intomy collection...A high and 'Fantastic' achievement on this one I'm proud of..so thanks.
Come back cover furniture we miss you.
Epic times! Huge congrats!
When I saw the thumbnail I thought "recreation". But the original?! I've never seen this one before - and it is pretty epic! That giant shot of Doom! What a cover! Congrats!
Thanks Tony! And what is cool about the original art here making it really distinct that it is indeed the original are the bevy of physical nuances about the piece..Byrne used a black market and those marker lines are clearly seen..there is the raised structure of the paper around Terrax's arm if you look up close you will...and some white out corrective elements...all things that ofc do not exist on any recreation.
Always an interesting day when there's a Phoenix post. What a beauty, thanks for sharing!

This cover embodies the essence of classic comic storytelling. It's bold, theatrical, and packed with the tension in the scene being played out on it. This isn’t just a cover, it’s a full blown story in a single image, something that has been lost in comic covers of the past 30-35 years, during which time editors have only cared about pointlessly boring movie poster pinup style covers. A phenomenal piece of comic book history. Congrats on acquiring it!

Very well said Ruben...I agree with each aspect of your comment...and the fall from story -telling grace of years past that was so integrally present in all the memorable art and major artists of yesteryear.. It is why we remember these images so much whereas the more modern pieces rarely have that effect...This Doom Storyline and each of the Byrne Doom Storylines were very memorable and potent...
Great cover from a great time in the run!!
My GOODNESS. Dropping heat like it's Summer time
A masterpiece!
Very nice how Byrne filled in the solid black in a meticulous manner. It doesn't show or matter in the published cover, but really shows a craftsmanship in the original. Powerful image in the classic Marvel manner with Doom as the master manipulator!
Simply..... bad @$$!
Epic! :-)
Mike drop! Piece of art of the week!
Doom appreciates the Recognition of Art Royalty
Memorable cover from such a strong Byrne FF arc
Great cover and Doom with Terrax was a combination I really loved when I read it back in the day.
One of my all-time favorite covers!
Absolute top Byrne FF cover! And great story too.
🏰 I appreciate the Royal sentiments ..
Awesome is what comes to mind. Also, I forgot to tell you about the provenance. Comic shop owner William bought this directly from Byrne back in the late 1980s, your friend and now you own it. That guy had a couple of other cool Bryne FF covers but nothing as good as this. Congrats!
Royal Provenance reveal --Accepted and Appreciated my friend
A great cover. With Doom and with the FF and Terrax. Congratulations for this masterpiece
Thanks Mario...A Monach must have Masterpieces .. 🏰
Beautiful Byrne cover with a killer Doom!
😈🏰.....Thanks my friend...You are welcome to Latveria any time..
Awesome! One of my favorites from Byrne's run.
A nod to past FF covers, but totally Byrne. The dynamism of Doom and the palpable engery of Terrax (Tyros) Torch. Wow.
Byrne was really firing on all cylinders here. Look at this run of covers - 257, 258, 259, 260, 261, 262 - Goodness! Congrats on this one!
Tonty, yes, certainly this cover design was inspired by Kirbyesque Doom cover compositions, which have him overlording like this..really portraying who and what Doom is and in this case in pure Byrne style..It seems this cover is one of the favorites of the period .and I agree on the other cover the 257 in my Gallery one of my other fav pieces..Doom and Galactus to me were and are the top antagonists for the FF and so those depictions are the most impactful...and as you say the pure dynamism of this Battle cover is a WOQ. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm about it.
Wow, just like Tony, when you see a thumbnail for a cover like this yer brain just starts at Recreation before it adjusts to how unreal this seems! One of Byrne's greatest FF covers, huge congrats!!
Hey Joe, what a great response, and it is moments like this things like this that is a part of what is worth doing this. For when I first was exposed to the cover myself I was like oh wow this is really the cover to this one, as you feel as I feel one of the greatest FF ones..I'm glad to be on the side of presenting that kind of a WOW moment ..as I know how many times on CAF I looked at something and went wait is this the real thing only to realize its a re-creation, so Cosmically pleased to be presenting a Cosmiic Original here..Thanks for sharing that moment 😈🏰
Yes my friend, I do believe you have on your hands one of the most beautiful covers of John Byrne's FF run.
But the story was also very nice , what can I say? You have a piece that could be in a comic museum.
Thank you and perhaps at one time it may be in a Museum the Museum might be in Latveria however... 🏰
Excellent piece--this cover made a big impact on me as a reader at the time, the choice to do Doom's cloak in black ink made it so striking and visually distinctive. Congrats!
