DescriptionLatest Golden Age Team-Up Project commission - The Brave & The Bold issue #259, teaming Batman with Bulletman, adapted by Bambos Georgiou from Rich Buckler and Frank Giacoia's cover to Daredevil #134.Spring 1945 - and the end of the war is in sight! Batman and the Human Bomb have destroyed the Ragnarok Cannon (see issue #237), the Allies are advancing into Germany, and Japanese forces are retreating in the Pacific. In New York, plans are underway for a rally to raise money for children orphaned by the war, timed to coincide with the anniversary of TNT's death, and the younger heroes from the US and overseas are scheduled to appear at it. Meanwhile, Bulletman is investigating an attempted theft of technology which forms part of his gravity helmet (which allows both he and his crime-fighting partner Bulletgirl to fly), but despite his undoubted detective skills he remains flummoxed - so he calls on the greatest detective of the age, Batman, for help. Answering Bulletman's request, the Gotham Guardian travels to Fawcett City to lend his assistance. With Bulletgirl out of town teaming up with Liberty Belle, Firebrand and other heroines, on the trail of Axis agent Baroness Paula von Gunther, Batman and Bulletman revisit the scene of the attempted robbery, and Batman finds a curious scorch-mark nearby. Both heroes are puzzled, but Bulletman thinks that, if this theft proved unsuccessful, another site might also be on the radar of the thieves, as similar technology is being developed there. Later that evening, Batman and Bulletman stake out the second site, aware that they may be wasting their time - but a high-pitched whine alerts to them to possible danger. Looking around in the darkness, they spot flames high in the air - and realise that an attack is being launched by the Japanese member of Axis Amerika, Kamikaze! Bulletman takes to the air to try and intercept the flying villain, and the two engage in a mind-air dogfight, but neither is able to get the upper hand. Batman, meanwhile, leaps down from the rooftop and uses a convenient flagpoole as a springboard, bounding high into the skies and using his bat-rope to lasso Kamikaze's legs -- only for the villain to fly ever higher, dragging Batman behind him! Finally, Batman is forced to relinquish his grip on the rope, and plummets towards the ground - but Bulletman swoops down to save him before he can crash to the earth. Regrouping, the heroes realise that the scorch-marks which were found at the site of the original attempted robbery must have been left by Kamikaze's boot rockets - and Batman speculates that the villain must be trying to steal the superior technology which Bulletman uses in order to enhance his flight capability. If the Japanese are able to get hold of this technology, who knows what use they could make of it, potentially lengthening - or even turning the tide of - the war! With a new resolve, Bulletman flies off again, but Kamikaze evades him and heads straight for the Caped Crusader, with Bulletman following at a different angle! For a second, Batman believes that both hero and vilain will crash into him, but is able to leap aside at the last minute - and Kamikaze, who had been counting on an impact with Batman to slow him, is momentarily thrown off-balance, allowing Bulletman to catch him and grapple with him in mid-air. Batman again tries to enter the fray, hurling his batarang in an attempt to knock the Axis villain out - but Kamikaze dodges, and pushes Bulletman into the path of the batarang, which strikes him, knocking him for six! As the stunned Flying Detective drops towards the ground, Batman rushes forward and is able to arrest Bulletman's fall, saving him from serious injury at the cost of having the wind knocked out of him - but when the two heroes return to their feet, Kamikaze has flown off, with no sign of the route he's taken! Thanking Batman for his help in solving the mystery of the attempted theft, Bulletman vows to ensure that the security which guards the critical technology is beefed up, and that he'll stay alert for any future attempts - and Batman, frustrated, sets off back to Gotham City, wondering of this was all that Kamikaze was planning, or whether a wider plot by Axis Amerika is underway. Since Kamikaze was clearly Roy Thomas' villainous nod-and-wink to Bulletman, I couldn't resist having the two face off against each other.

I do have a soft spot for Bulletgirl but I love the shout out to her and other All Star ladies. But it's a great cover
