War of the Kings Issue #1 Pg 3

I picked this piece up from Anthony's Comic Book Art Booth at OAX. As a fan of this series, I was happy to add another piece from it. The first panel is the Starjammer running from a Shi'ar Superdestroyer called Divine Principles of Immolation. The Starjammer is enroute to Crystal and Ronan's wedding and is transporting the deposed Empress of the Shi'ar, Liliandra Neramani. Liliandra who is seeking asylum with the Inhumans starts an all-out war between the Shi'ar and Inhumans. Hence, War of Kings with Emperor Vulcan vs. Black Bolt.

There are three main crossover events that takes place during The Guardians of the Galaxy (GotG) (Vol. 2). This event is number two of three. Guardians of the Galaxy (Vol. 2) Issue 13-17 are included in the event and the team later enters the series in War of Kings issue #3, which I have already collected a page. However, I picked this piece up as it's an early page from the series and helps set the scene for the event.

Luckily for the Starjammer, the frontier guard are there to phase open a barrier portal for the Starjammer. However, the Shi'ar Superdestroyer is not so lucky. I love Paul Pelletier and Rick Magyar's ability to deconstruct an explosive scene. I have another page, Guardians of the Galaxy (Vol. 2) Issue #4 Pg. 4, that is another great example of them deconstructing an explosive scene.
