Virgil Finlay illustration for the Science Fiction Book Club flyer "Things to Come" for April/May 1968. This illustration shows a scene from a short story collection entitled "Asimov's Mysteries" by Isaac Asimov which was one of the main club selections for that issue.

From the familiar sci-fi tropes to the main focus of the weird alien, Finlay uses the same amount of artistry and patience in pulling out the most from the subject matter.  At the height of the space race, these stories and art were more popular than ever.
