DescriptionIn early April, Next Comic Art did a 'Fun in the Sun' themed live art sale on the CAF+ YouTube channel with Bill. There were plenty of babes, sand, and skin to be had from the Next crew, but none got me as hot under the collar as this amazing Stingray piece by Dexter Wee! As the sun gets closer to the horizon, the sky burns a deep orange hue and Stingray launches out of the cool water to dry off after a day in the cool water. The contrasting colors on this piece are truly stunning. Navy, cobalt, teal, and indigo blues make up the water while the sky is bright orange. Even Stingray takes on some orange glow as the sun shines white hot behind him. As a fun little bonus, there is a rough sketch of Daredevil on the back of the board! Mixed media - gouache, water color, markers and prismacolor on 11x17 board.Social/Sharing |

Wee! I love the bright intensity of the orange hue! He's really fortunate, because much like other amphibians, he gets to enjoy being underwater for as long as he wants to and then also gets to soak up the suns rays without worrying about drying out. Now that's a superhero!

You succumbed to the targetting. Very hard to resist with that attractive orange color and the bright halo.

Stingray always brings a touch of class to the swimsuit issue. Let your mind fill in (or strip off) the goods.
Really joyful piece from Dexter.

Beautiful piece that was dearly drawn with one collector in mind and made it into the right collection! I love the colors in this one and how Stingray seems to just be emerging victorious from under the water!

Wow, the colors work remarkably well here. The word sun drenched comes to mine. The deep blue to orange transition really is the definition of complementary. This is a piece that you can bask in and just soak up all the glory. Fun in the sun indeed!
