Digital Coloring Process

DescriptionAfter the birth of my second baby Jett in 2024, I just needed an updated Groo piece to include a dedication to him. Just like the first one in 2022 after the birth of my first child in 2021, this is 3" x 17".This piece is in a portrait or vertical orientation. It's remarkable to see so many details and stinger bees packed into such a small piece of real estate on the paper. Sometimes, I feel this is the ideal size for an Aragones commission because given the small size - he seems to pack an extra oomph of action and details in the piece for added value. I also have this little quirk that when I acquire a commission, I try to ask a picture of the artist holding it when possible. And I also try to digitally color a scan myself. Well, for this one, I mashed up my digital colors with the picture of Sergio holding the piece, with some characters from the first 3" x 17" piece he made for my first born. You'll see it in the additional images. I also did a process image of my digital coloring. All in all, this is a great 2025 piece by the 87-year old but forever ageless Sergio Aragones!
