A Bruce McCorkindale commission: a "what if" version of King Comics' FLASH GORDON #12 featuring re-creations of Alex Raymond art - a mash-up of two panels from the Sunday page from 5-19-40. Pen, brush and ink on 13" X 20" Bristol board.

I am having Bruce work on a number of pieces using Alex Raymond's work to replace cover images from the 1960's comic books. Technically FLASH GORDON #12 had been taken over by Charlton, so this is REALLY imaginary - positing that King maintained separate publishing beyond #11.

A very lovely split composition. It tests McCorkindale's skills to have one side heavy in darkness and the other so light and elegant.
