Description

This is “Dreameater” by Vince Natale, which he created in 2017. This is a departure from Vince’s normal very photo-realistic work, but he counts it as one of his favorite creations. It was awarded the Grand Prize in International Artist magazine’s 2019 abstract/experimental art competition., which led Vince to being highlighted in a 4-page spread in American Art Collector magazine.

I don’t collected a lot of abstract art, but this one is just stellar. I remember first seeing it when it was included in the “Of Scales and Feathers” group exhibition at SPOKE NYC in 2018. I loved the piece then, but just couldn’t afford it at the time. Though the piece didn’t sell, it was listed as “sold” on their site and so I always assumed it was long gone. Fast forward to last week when, to my delight, Vince listed it for sale on his site.

A kebab of so many wild and disparate elements put together with no purpose other than to confound and spark curiosity, Natale's photorealism does come into play to cause a gut reaction no life drawing can achieve.
