Description

Bela and Gnea�s attempt to escape from the Invid Queen�s zoo is thwarted almost immediately. This page takes place right after my first page in this gallery and is part of the sequence that introduced the Praxians. Robotech II: The Sentinels #15, page 16 (1990).

Ink, gray markers, gouache on 14 X 17 inch Bristol board. Signed on the back by the artist, Jason Waltrip.

Jason says of this page, "An early page with the Praxian warrior women, Bela and Gnea, without their helmets. The original character designs for Bela and Gnea showed little distinction between them. They looked nearly identical in visage and stature save for their hair and clothes. I changed their appearance slightly, making Bela older and Gnea younger. The strange-looking Invid mecha on the left in panel 1 is an original design I created for the Regis' personal guard. It's an odd combining of traits from several Invid mecha: a little Enforcer, Shock Trooper and Scout. It appeared only in this issue and was never used again."

Sizzling action and good girl bondage! Waltrip's wash brings the animation look of painted layers under the characters.
