Description

The assassin Erwin Rogers gets an assignment from his boss, a vampiric Master of the Night.

“You asked me to eliminate all those who know you were involved in the coup, Condor.”

“Every now and then you have to clean up the past, Erwin. Then you can rebuild your life.”

“Who knows how many times you have cleaned up, in your long life. Did my father also know you would get rid of him too?”

“Your father…” (Condor generates a brief illusion of Erwin's long-dead father Alan.)

“Dad! It was him! It seemed like he was here, with us!”

“One of my powers, dear Erwin. I can show you your father whenever you want. Would you have killed him, if I had asked you?”

“My father? Kill my father?? You know I could never do that! You know it!”

“Of course, Erwin, of course. And Alan Rogers was faithful to me, as are you! It was not necessary to eliminate him... maybe.”

“Fate wanted him to die first.”

“Yes, your father is dead, without a doubt. Go, now! Gooooo…” (The dead vampire which Condor's spirit possessed collapses into a steaming pile of goo.)

“For God's sake! I don't know if you can still hear me, Condor… but your exit makes me want to puke! Anyway, you must not worry… Before hunting the Dampyr, I will honor the last contract: Ernesto Guerrero!”

We met Guerrero back in the opening scene of this story. He was a reporter covering the 1973 coup in Chile. It seems that Condor is methodically eliminating all the witnesses to his own involvement in the coup.

I like that force ghost effect used for Papa!  It's also great showing that dweeb guy in panel 2 in page 62 is the same guy at the bottom of page 63 where he's all business.

For being a "clean up" guy, he sure does leave a mess ;)

I really like the shadow on Erwin's face while looking at his father, as though he is lost in another world, and then the return to the light as he looks again at the decaying Condor. Nice storytelling.

Strong steaming pile of goo sequence! That's not something I'd expect to write, but now it's something I hope for, especially on Dotti Dampyr art!

The mood created by the shadows and contrasts is perfect for the scene. Big congrats!
