Description

Harlan and Tesla confront the assassin Erwin Rogers in the harbor of Vina del Mar. Dialogue beginning on page 89:

(Henchman) “Someone is coming toward us on a speedboat.”

(Rogers) “Dammit! It's them!”

(Tesla) “What a ride!”

(Harlan) “It belonged to a gangster. Of course it's fast.”

“What if you're wrong? What if there are only fishermen on board out there?”

“In that case, after a quick check, we'll be back at the villa in less than half an hour. We left Kurjak, Baldwyn, and Teresa to protect the Guerreros.” (Gunfire from the yacht grazes Harlan’s shoulder.) “Maybe not...!”

(Tesla)“Watch out!”

“They're shooting at us. We weren't wrong at all.”

“You stay down. I'll take the wheel.”

(Henchman) “Did you get one?”

(Rogers) “I'm afraid not. The speedboat is rocking too much.”

(Henchman sees the bullets hit Tesla, to no effect.) “Who is that woman? A demon?”

(Rogers) “Something like that. Can't this wreck go any faster?”

(Tesla) “There's the blond guy. Are you ready to take the wheel again, my sweet? You just have to pull up alongside the tub.”

(Rogers) “I already told you that shooting is useless. But you have to have a can of gasoline on board, right?”

(Tesla goes vamp and leaps to the fishing boat, taking out the henchman.) “Bravo! This is how we do it! Get out of my way!”

(Harlan) “That's quite a leap, my friend.”

(Tesla can't find the other two guys.) “He didn’t jump into the sea just to escape me, did he?” (The skipper sprays gasoline on her.) “Crap!”

(Erwin sets Tesla afire with a burning rag.) “Say hello to hell, vampire!”

(Tesla jumps into the water, burning.) “Aaah!”

(Harlan slams the speedboat into the side of the fishing boat.) “Noo! Teslaa!”

(Rogers) “Damn! That madman rammed the boat. Everything here is on fire.”

That really is dynamic. Great storytelling. It reminds me of the Live and Let Die boat chase.
