DescriptionPublished 1976 by DCSecret of the Spellbound Supergirl! written by Cary Bates A boy discovers an alien urn that he uses to command Supergirl to perform one bad deed after doing a good one. Cover was credited to Buckler in the Grand Comics Database. This credit came from the Comics Reader #134. However, on the back is written 'Chua & Colletta' which appears to have been done contemporaneously. It is written in blue ink which looks to be the same ink as the copyright date. As per his interview in Marvel Age #109, Chua stated he changed his name to Chan in 1976 when he gained his US citizenship which is the same year as this cover was published. As these creators are no longer with us, I leave it to the discerning art detectives to make up their minds but I am crediting this one to Chan. Purchased from Heritage. Heritage also did get the date wrong as they listed the cover as being from 1974 although the comic was published in 1976 and the copyright date on the back is 1976. Social/Sharing |

I agree, the copyright handwriting appears the same and done with the same pen as the artist credits. It's definitely by Chan and Colletta. It's a really great, action oriented cover, too. Supergirl's pose is excellent and it's pretty neat that she's attacking her own statue!

Boy, she really hates the way the statue portrays her. Jimmy Olson looks like a swinger in the left vertical panel. Nice description of the conflicting credits.
