I was making some CAF updates while looking through portfolios and realized that I only posted it in a FB group, but it never made it to my gallery.
For those not familiar with the GREATEST HORROR PUNK band ever…The MiSfiTs, this is the guitar player Dolye (Wolfgang von Frankenstein). The band was founded in 1977 and broke up in 1983. Growing up I was not familiar with them but had seen their iconic Crimson Ghost Skull all over the place. In 1996 I went to a local music festival primarily to see Anthrax. After the pepper spray incident with the cops during Anthrax’s set, I remember my friend pointing out a couple guys heading to the other stage and asked “who the hell is that?!?” It turned out to be Doyle and Michale Graves. (Yes, we saw the Graves-era MiSfiTs). So, we headed to that stage to check them out. The next day I went to the record store and bought Collection I. The following day I bought Collection II. By the end of the week, I had bought all their material. They have been my favorite band ever since.
I saw the Graves & Only era of the band over 20 times. Finally in 2016 the unthinkable happened. Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only put aside their differences and headlined Riotfest (Chicago) with Doyle on guitar. It was incredible. There were people in the crowd that had flown in from outside the US just to see it. I have since seen the original lineup 3 more times and hope to see them again.
Anyway, this piece was a past Christmas gift from my friend Brian. He did not see the 2016 show but went to the next 3 with me. Thanks, Brian, for a great gift!
