Thanks for a fun month of Star Wars posts. I've enjoyed the art and your wonderful write ups.
You saved a good one for last!
A very memorable issue from the original run, and a standout page of Cody explaining to Lando how he came to be there. A fantastic month of art you have shared with us, thanks Kavi!
And what kind of fool would attempt to post something every day for a month? Only a madman, surely.
Only obsessive compulsive Star Wars maniacs can manage MORE than 31 pieces of art shared in 31 days during the month of May, with multiple days of sharing multiple pieces of art within that span! You and I will have to track down those sick individuals and have some sort of intervention with them ;-p
Lando putting on a act. He is really slapping him for taking all the shrimp from last nights cioppino.
Classic Infantino alien character straight from the DC Silver Age!
Omg, bro, I never in a million years would've guessed that any art collector, even a massive Star Wars fan, would want this page primarily for the top 2 panels with that hideous Cody Sunn-Childe, and feel that Chewie and Lando are only the "bonus"! Before reading your description, I had already looked at the page and my first thought was "Ugh, too bad the first 3 panels have that hideous looking character in them. Thankfully the final 3 panels have Chewie and Lando!". 🤣
Congrats on another Star Wars month!
All kidding/jokes aside (because i know you are to some degree), the Weird looking aliens/non human species is a huge part of what makes Star Wars great to me. Not to mention all the other unsung heroes in the Rebellion against the galaxy from various different forms of media (books, comics, tv shows, animated series) besides the main films with the main characters everyone knows and loves. That said, of course I love having Chewie and Lando by Infantino in a Star Wars example, because those are definately 2 of the characters he drew quite a bit and is known for doing in the comics. But BTW, that hideous Cody Sunn-Childe is actually in ALL 6 panels if you look more closely. It's just that those first 2 panels are ALL him and are more about his back story of how he got there and created the city, rather than the actual scene taking place on the rest of the page. ANYWAY, haha...it's def been a fun month, and I'm always a bit sad when the month of June starts.
He's got a style that is Billy Dee
Reminds me of Carmine's fantasies
Where every ink was as fresh as Tom's bright blue lines (Sky)
Now and then when I smack that face
He takes me away to that special page
And if I stared for Tom I'd probably break down and cry
Whoa-oh-oh! Sunn-Childe o' mine
Whoa, oh-oh-oh! Sweet love Carmine
He's got life in a paradise
As if peace lost again
I hate to look into those thighs and see a coward's pain
His hair reminds me of a warm, safe place
Where as a Childe would hide
And pray for Chewbacca and the rain to quietly pass peace by
Whoa-oh-oh! Sunn-Childe o' mine
Ooh, oh-oh-oh! Sweet love Carmine
Oh yeah! Whoa-oh-oh-oh! Sunn-Childe o' mine
Ooh-oh, oh, oh! Sweet love Carmine
Whoa, oh-oh-oh! Sweet Childe Carmine, ooh yeah
Ooh! Sweet love of style
Out of this world!
Super fun Infantino SW page, congrats.
So weird I love it!
Infantino's style was so sublime and added to the Star Wars lore. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for sharing all of your awesome new Star Wars art! You definitely deserve a break from posting!
This is outstanding--love the inks here!
Another great Star Wars page Kavi! I really love 6 panel layouts like these!
A great example of a Wally Lombego script inspiring artists to do excellent work!
What a gorgeous page, Kavi!! Congrats. I love the 2nd panel especially.
I have a hard time not liking this Infantino!
Thanks for making this month so much fun. It was nice to see so many examples of Star Wars art from your collection. I especially enjoyed this page from the original Star Wars comic series! Carmine Infantino did his usual terrific job here, telling a complicated story with great skill. The composition is great and the drawing is very polished. And I have to add that Tom Palmer's inks are spot on, as always. Great pick-up, congrats.
However you source these SW gems, man, only the very best...!
Another SW banger! Congrats on all these great addtions!
That's a very beautiful page from the memorable first run of these series!!!! Amazing addition!!!
"Don't meet your heroes" comes to mind :) I like how you can tell it's Lando feature-wise but Infantino/Palmer still give him that more cartoony comic book-y look. Congrats!
Hmmm...Somehow I missed this one …Fantastic page! With all due respect to Ruben, I really dig those top two panels of Cody Sun-Childe. They really pop! Like you, a big attraction for me of Star Wars (and other sci fi classics) are the strange looking aliens and weird creatures. Of course panels 4-6 are icing on the cake. Great grab!
epic Star Wars page, drawn by the legendary Carmine Infantino and inked by the great Tom Palmer
great congratulations
Wow!! What a prize, nostalgic page!!! Congrats Kavi!!
A piece of history!
