Books of Magic #2 p. 46 - Scott Hampton

Hard to overstate how much I loved the original Books of Magic mini-series. It was everything I could have wanted from a tour of DC's magical community. Bought each prestige issue as it came out. A couple of years into Gaiman's Sandman, he was able to bring his unique storytelling directly into the outskirts of the DCU.

Scott Hampton's issue was a particular treat. Ever since Alan Moore created the Constantine/Zatanna dynamic, it's been one of my favorite duos in comics. I was so happy to see a page with this much of them front and center come available. And, the way Scott portrays the glassy-eyed woman in the final panels to show that Deadman is in the driver's seat was a bonus.

Lucky to pick this up from Ben Huang at the Spring 2025 CAL.
