Aclin really stepped up to the plate! Awesome add to your collection!~
Now, Aclin UK, I was high-test Galaxy
Now, maybe I'm more like Star Wars Fantasy
But I still Byrne, I still Byrne
You walked away while there was still a little Jeff
Making me feel like I'm half-smoked duel on edge
But I learned, yeah, I Byrne
Don't go chasing a sword parry
That's just your past dressed up like War in Weekly
You're better off pressing on and letting Story B
And don't go chasing a memory
Great pick up! Aclin mastered the art of cloning others styles so that these pages could seamlessly fit in to the reprints.
Such a climactic ending, what will we do?
love this vintage Marvel UK addition to your collection! I have a soft spot for the Marvel UK reprints (on many titles) and the original covers and original title pages many of them had not only for the Star Wars issue reprints but for various other backup stories like this and on other titles (Spider-Man, Planet Of The Apes, etc.). You found just the right one for your focused collection with great art by Aclin. congrats!
Definetly a perfect fit. I sawy a bunch of other Star-lord and Rocket Raccoon reprints occured. Going to have to keep my eye out for them.
Definitely looks like 1970's Byrne & Austin work. What a great looking addition to the collection!
This is outstanding--congratulations!
Fantastic page from Star Wars Weekly by Jeff Aclin and Duffy Vohland! As you say, this was from an era when Space Movies and comics were all the rage. This is a fun page with Star Lord and Lord Gareth in an old-fashioned sword fight. Aclin and Vohland do a reasonable take off on the Bryne-Austin style. I love the way the battle scenes flow so smoothly from panel to panel, it's not easy to do. Beautifully composed page that ends with a decisive move by Star Lord which rips the sword from Gareth's hand and ensures his defeat. Fabulous pick-up, congrats!
What a unique scarce piece
Sockamagee!
