Description
"Battle of Midway" by Paul S. Newman, cover date October-December 1963.

Yorktown comes under attack.

Sam probably changed the last word bubble from what the writer gave him. He explains in the margin "That command should be commence firing. They are always at battle stations." He is speaking from experience, having served during the war on a destroyer in the Pacific.

Was not aware that Glanzman was a former serviceman. No wonder he enjoyed so much success in the war genre. Congratulations on a nice page and thanks for sharing it here!

Thanks, Lee! He had a semi-autobiographical series in DC war books called USS Stevens. I bet he had a good time doing the story recounting the crew's ceremony initiating sailors crossing the equator for the first time!
