DescriptionPHALANX PSYLOCKE - Mystery Sketch Spring 2025 - ROMBUTANI ordered two mystery sketches this round both with the prompt of Phalanx Psylocke. Thrilled to have another really fun piece by the Next Comic Art crew, the first one was from Harvey Tolibao I don’t know Rombutan very well but definitely really enjoy their interpretation and look forward to seeing what comes next. This Psylocke is really beautifully done in color, form and expression. I especially love how Rombutan gave her a rather relaxed calm pose as she is being assimilated by the Phalanx. I noticed that her face is protected by her psi butterfly effect and she is in some manner working in harmony with the phalanx instead of fighting it or in agony; all while being adorned with lots of psychic butterflies. Great choices from this artist and a successful mystery sketch. Social/Sharing |

Rombutan is great! Very retro 70's coloring that reminds me of dessert flavors of mango and ube!

Not so fast, James! A sketch's a sketch, but the mystery sketch could be anything! It could even be a sketch! You know how much we've wanted one of those!

What a great prompt. I know on stream they were debating whether Psylocke was ever Phalanx'd, but I know she's in the Sega Clone Wars game, so it fits at least that little tidbit of X-Men history. A great piece - gorgeous and deceptively menacing.
