DescriptionAt Heroes Con 2025 we stopped by Sean Carlson’s booth. While flipping through his portfolio, saw a pencil drawing of Nova - one of my favorite Marvel characters and my favorite version of the character. Loved it and had to have it (see additional image).Flipping through the portfolio saw a color print of the same figure and asked if the drawing was a prelim for a painting - it was and he still had it, but not at the show. There was a photo of it on his Instagram (seancarlsonart) - I said I’d follow up after the show to ask about it purchasing it. I did it follow up and asked to buy it. Even better, Sean was going to be passing through the town where I live on the way to another convention and he generously agreed to drop it off in person. (If you haven’t met him, stop by his booth at a con - one of the nicest people I’ve met at a con.) Hard to capture the colors accurately in a photo (took photos in 3 different apps and every one changes the color slightly - more purple, more pink, less gloss, etc.). 14x18, acrylics on canvas board Social/Sharing |

That's just wonderful! The cosmic rays of colors and white glow really emphasize the heroic look from the origins of the sci-fi genre.

Great Nova piece and can't beat that kind of customer service! The colors look good in your photo.

Thanks! I added a second image with a different light source just to try to capture them (and the texture) better. :) Almost my entire collection is just pencil & ink, never thought about the challenge of accurately capturing the look with color.
