Description

Irish McCalla was a renowned Western artist who had played Sheena, Queen of the Jungle in 1955. Irish was the first actress to ever play a comic book superheroine in a TV show and a movie.

This self-portrait painting by Irish McCalla was on the 1982 TV show
"Where are they now?" where they interviewed Irish and was also on the cover of plate collector magazine in 1980.

Irish said she knew people bought her paintings because she played Sheena but I've seen no other self-portraits of her as Sheena. Her sons told me they saw no other paintings of her as Sheena except this one. That makes this painting unique.

I believe this was made with chalk, pastels, and watercolor.

Irish McCalla is to Sheena what Sean Connery is to James Bond.
