Description
A beautiful grey cover rough by Paul Rivoche done in 1983. Attached below is also a color cover rough of the same cover. An extraordinary talent and just a super generous guy.

That's what I told him yesterday when he only had this attached as an additional image! Much better this way, don't you think, Josh? A beauty like this deserves to be front and center!

Agree 100%. Your insights are on point, as they often are. When Paul included it as a "free" extra for buying the color version, I immediately thought this was even better.

Well, thanks, that's kind of you to say. But you know what I find interesting and very ironic? That while many of us feel the same way about it, the brilliant artist himself thought it was a better idea to offer the color rough and make this one the freebie, rather than the other way around. The only thing I can think of to explain his descision is that he might've been thinking that collectors would be more attracted to something that has color on it because it appears to be more involved, in the same way that a finished painting appears to be a lot more involved than a pencilled and inked illustration. Regardless, it's great you got both of them!

Neat artifact from the 80's when the indie scene was hopping!  Rivoche and Mister X elevated the meaning of the indie scene to be no longer underground, but a real place for creative freedom.
